Track new features, improvements, and bug fixes for PLC Copilot.

  1. 1.6.4

    Latest

    Improvements

    • The assistant works better on large projects. It can search your program and edit every aspect of your logic.
    • Improved Siemens TIA Portal integration and understanding of logic.
    • Larger size limit for image attachments and screenshots.

    Fixes

    • Sign-in sessions stay active during long idle time, and chat replies don't fail when the app is in the background.
  2. 1.6.3

    Improvements

    • Paste a screenshot directly into the chat, such as ladder logic or an error dialog.
    • Siemens ladder support covers more instructions, including time, date, and diagnostics.
    • A notice appears before you switch models when the change can affect your bill.
    • Clearer messages when a Siemens block name or access setting does not match what TIA Portal expects.
  3. 1.6.1

    Improvements

    • Auto model fallback, PLC Copilot continues with another model instead of stopping the task.
    • The chat shows a clearer status while a reply is still in progress.
    • Long conversations run more smoothly: the app keeps context organized so large projects are easier to work through.
    • Open a project by attaching its file from the chat, as well as from the main open dialog.
    • A warning appears if you open or reload a Siemens project while TIA Portal is online.

    Fixes

    • The connection to TIA Portal is more stable.
    • Siemens file and block names that include special characters are handled correctly.
    • Starting a new chat, or opening an older one, asks for confirmation while a reply is still in progress.
  4. 1.6.0

    September 2026

    Improvements

    • Support Siemens TIA Portal: Open Siemens projects, view ladder and function block diagrams, connect to TIA Portal, review changes, and Apply them back to the project.
    • Documents: Keep specs and notes in the app. The assistant can create and edit them, and you can export to PDF or drag files in.
    • Chat attachments: Send PDFs, images, spreadsheets, and text files, such as manuals, logs, and datasheets.
    • Smarter assistant: Web search capability; ask clarifying questions on unclear and important edits
    • Ladder and function block diagrams use the same viewer on every supported platform.
    • Send feedback from the title bar.
    • Jump to logic from a reference in chat or in the editor, and land on the right routine or block.
    • Rockwell and AutomationDirect: Stronger ladder checks, clearer cross-references, and automatic backups.

    Fixes

    • Better printed ladder and the ladder preview in chat display.
    • Reviewing and applying project changes is more reliable.
    • Applying Siemens changes, and creating the backup, fails less often. Messages are clearer when something does not succeed.
    • The file list and the editor stay in sync when you switch files.
  5. 1.5.2

    August 2026

    Improvements

    • Long chats handle large replies more reliably.
    • Creating, backing up, and restoring documents is clearer when it succeeds or fails.
    • Better error explanatons if the AI service is unavailable.

    Fixes

    • Signing out no longer crashes if the app was restoring your session at the same time.
    • Chat session resets on sign-out so the next login does not continue the wrong conversation.
    • Document editor no longer jumps scroll position when you click into it.
  6. 1.5.1

    August 2026

Includes the main 1.5 release for the AI agent and documents.

    Improvements

    • New assistant experience: A clearer back-and-forth. You approve sensitive edits before they are applied, you can see when work is in progress, and long tasks are kept from running without end.
    • Models: Choose Auto or set how much effort the model uses, from one control on the chat bar. You can also see how full the conversation context is.
    • Documents in the IDE: Templates, editing, and preview in the editor. The assistant can use a document in its answer, and you can export to PDF.
    • Safer file edits: Edits to the same file are lined up so one change does not silently overwrite another.
    • Ladder errors explain what is wrong and how to fix it.
    • Links between logic, tags, and documents are more consistent in the editor and in previews.

    Fixes

    • Timeouts and failures during a reply are explained clearly instead of hanging silently.
    • Partial or cancelled replies no longer leave the thread in a confusing state.
    • Rockwell rung text validation catches more formatting mistakes before you apply.
    • IDE stays on graphical ladder/FBD view instead of flipping to raw text unexpectedly.
  7. 1.4.1

    August 2026

    Improvements

    • Large Rockwell projects open faster.
    • AutomationDirect: Clearer ladder and function block layout, more instructions, and a better fit for Productivity Suite.
    • Backups: Choose how many automatic backups to keep, with a hint when a backup can help you recover.
    • Structured Text has its own view in the editor.
    • Function block diagrams: More block types, with improved layout and clearer errors.
    • Extra guidance for safety-related ladder work on Rockwell projects.
    • A notice appears when a conversation is getting very long.

    Fixes

    • The project explorer scrolls correctly.
    • Checks on very large projects no longer fail when the project is valid.
    • Backup status and recovery hints are shown correctly.
